Tales of crazed fans, and a decade under the influence.

So, Noel Gallagher got assaulted onstage in Toronto. Whether or not you are a fan of Oasis, it makes for interesting viewing…

Right, on to the main story. A week or so ago I rolled on down to London’s tortured but brilliant Astoria venue to see Long Island’s finest Taking Back Sunday play what was almost a homecoming (the UK is home to one of their biggest fanbases), but was really a warm-up show for the Reading and Leeds festivals.

After Brighton band This City’s storming hardcore-pop set, the headliners took to the stage to the sound of a dramatic fanfare, and after introducing new guitarist Matt Fazzi for his first UK show with the band, Adam & Co. opened up their set the old way, with “old school” hit You Know How I Do from the band’s debut album Tell All Your Friends. The set flew by, with a great mix of songs spanning their three-album career so far, along with a few never-before-heard previews from the forthcoming new album.

The band sounded tight, and the between-song banter was friendly, upbeat and funny. Adam’s live voice is often known to be a little hit-and-miss, but tonight all was well, every note was there and sung with the passion that long-term TBS fans have grown to know and love.

After an anti-rockstar/we-don’t-do-encores speech, the band closed an overall rocking set with hit singles A Decade Under The Influence and MakeDamnSure, and left the stage and their audience satisfied. Matt Fazzi has proved himself a more than worthy replacement for Fred Mascherino, and after time away, the band are back on top form. Bring on the future.

In other news, here at the Maidenhead shop we have just started stocking world-favourites Takamine guitars, so please call in for a demo - we’ve never played an action quite like a Takamine, and prices now start from just £279-00 so it’s an opportunity not to be missed. For the electric players out there, if you need to upgrade your bedroom amp to a gig-worthy contestant without breaking the bank or losing the advantages of using a combo, we have just added the MG250DFX to our Marshall range.

We’re still here, for all your musical needs. See you soon!
Luke
