The Ukelele Revolution…

Posted by Luke, under Pianos · RSS ·

Throughout June and the beginning of July we have sold more Ukeleles than we have had hot dinners. Collectively.

Something’s afoot..

Anyway, in light of this sudden increase in the popularity of the legendary Ukelele, we have made the decision to stock up, and even display our range exclusively in the Maidenhead branch’s brand new Ukelele department. Perhaps this is a slight overstatement, but we are certainly making our Ukeleles more obvious.

Whether you are already a fanatic player, or merely an intrigued bystander looking to join the rest of the British population in this particular revolution, make your way down to the shop on King Street and take your pick from the exciting range of Lazy, Tanglewood, Ovation, and Vintage ukeleles.Who knows how this will end?

Whatever the outcome, for better or worse, save yourself. It’s definitely high time to get a Ukelele for you and your family.

Luke

Hi. My name’s Luke – I’m assistant manager at the Maidenhead branch of the Sheargold empire. I handle duties such as pulling shelves off walls, shuffling the contents of the shop around, and serving customers with a smile, as well as selling guitars and pianos to the masses.

I feel it’s very important to take a customer’s needs and best interests into account when selling an instrument, rather than just recommending the most expensive product and looking at the sale with a view to “shifting units”.

A typical day in the shop for me will involve opening up at 9am sharp, drinking plenty of coffee, serving the happy customers who visit the shop to purchase music, accessories and instruments, accepting deliveries, shipping mail/internet orders, answering phones, and generally sorting things out in the shop. With the exception of my trusty iPod, technology is not a friend of mine, and it’s not rare to catch me having an argument with the shop’s computer system or the printer/fax/copier/paper eating machine. On the other hand, the kettle and I get along just fine. Outside of work my life basically revolves round music too – When I’m not playing music I’m listening to it or going to gigs. What more is there to life? For those about to rock.. head down to Sheargolds.

This Week’s Happenings!

Posted by Steven, under Pianos · RSS ·

What a busy week! It all started on Friday afternoon whilst I was at Cobham. I got a call from Luke at Maidenhead who had told me that our JHS order had arrived - all 30 boxes and 3 palettes of it!
So having finally made it back to Maidenhead at around 7pm and delivered some shelves to the Maidenhead shop, I see that there is no way anybody is going to be able to scramble across all the boxes on Saturday so Luke and I decided to meet in the evening and start unpacking!
We finally left the shop at 12:30am Saturday morning, yet to return just 8 hours later!
We have since spent the last week still trying to organise the shop…

More news… Shea from Tanglewood came and saw us and gave us a great offer for customers… Buy any Tanglewood guitar from their Premier, Sundance or Heritage range and get a funky little travel size electric guitar for just £9.95! They are pretty good as well and come in various colours. Click here for more details!

Take It Away merchandise came yesterday, so we are all geared up for the (unofficial) launch on 2nd July, and the major launch on 14th July.

That’s about it for now on the news front.
