A message from Jack:
Hi, I’m Jack. This week I’ve been working at Sheargolds’ Maidenhead branch for my work experience. It was great fun, and I learned a lot about music and instrument sales, but at the end of the day, what I learned most about was myself. I can only strive to be as cool as Luke, Steve, and John; but I certainly will try.
Thanks Jack.
Yesterday Long Island rockers Taking Back Sunday announced that their long-time guitarist/vocalist/songwriter Fred had left the band, to pursue his wittily-titled side-project “The Color Fred“. In the meantime, the guy who did that job before even Fred (they seem to go through guitarists pretty fast) is supporting the mighty MOTION CITY SOUNDTRACK tonight with his band Straylight Run. Who don’t deserve a link.
I will be there. It’s the third night I’ve spent in London this week - after seeing mewithoutYou on Monday at the Borderline, and Tankus The Henge on Tuesday at the Barfly. mewithoutYou’s latest album is being released in the UK at the beginning of next month on Strange Addiction records, and Tankus The Henge’s debut single is out on Spin Records on the 29th October.
Both are definately worth checking out!
Anyway, here’s the deal - if you come in to the shop tomorrow and pick up (buy) a guitar with a retail value of at least £199-00, we’ll give you a free tuner worth £20. Rock.

Today was the 3rd request this week for Christmas Sheet Music with the wonderful piece that is “The Snowman” (No sarcasm intended… much!). It’s not that I don’t like the piece, it’s just that it has been so overplayed in recent years that not a Christmas goes by now without it!
Anyway, rather than go to and from the back stockroom, I decided it is time to get the whole Christmas Music Repertoire out on display! So if you’re in Maidenhead and think it’s time to start practicing for the annual sing-song pop in and take a look at some of the pieces we have in. There’s a combination of traditional carols and festive pieces all the way through to Christopher Norton’s “Carol Jazz” and the rather amusingly titled “Quirky Wacky Christmas Songs” with titles including: “Christmas Dinner, Does Santa Claus Sleep With His Whiskers Over Or Under The Sheet?, Grandfather Kringle, Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer” and many more!!
In other breaking news, we have just fought off 6 huge cartons of Ibanez electric & bass guitar packages. Priced at £199 I have a feeling we will sell out long before Christmas!
